"We are very thankful and exceedingly happy for being chosen to take part in the travel2change program. For us, this is a very important opportunity to help our community in Oyugis and the surrounding area to fight waterborne diseases and thus enhance the development and well-being of our community. We would like to use this opportunity to put a focus on educating the upcoming generation directly on these issues and thus assure the long-term impact of the project. We are looking forward to welcoming our guests to Kenya and the Kenyan culture, and to help us implementing our project together with the wish and the objective to make it a fruitful and long-lasting partnership." Festus O. Juma, Executive Director SEP "It's amazing what an impact the small act of simply washing hands can have on one's life. SEP reached out to us about their need to support empower their community to hand wash with soap and to treat water before drinking. This project aims to help by educating the most influential generation, the children of Africa, on the importance of basic hygiene. It's a great idea to combine this with organizing games of soccer." "We are honored to be selected as a travel2change winning project; from the moment we heard about the concept we knew we wanted to be involved – the philosophy and principles of travel2change align nicely with WAVES. As surfers we have a very special relationship with the water so this first idea challenge is a great fit!" Dave Aabo, Executive Director "This project not only contributes to the education of but helps the local youth develop into healthy and empowered adults, while offering them a chance to be introduced to the art of riding the waves in one of the Pacific's premier locales. It provides them with a healthy and safe past time that utilizes the natural beauty of their home. It's great that the educational program aims to help the children become independent and self-sustaining by teaching them entrepreneurial skills." Travel2change |

"It is great to be able to assist these village kids and to bring focus and attention to Horana and Sri Lanka. You can never imagine how rewarding and fulfilling it is to help those with much less than us – when you have gone there with your own feet and hands, then you will believe and feel the inner happiness. Thank you for nominating us!" Arosha Jayasundera, former Rotary President and member of the local community "You have water and you have a school, but how do you get one to the other? Simple – build a pump and then provide the necessary plumbing. That's what this project is going to do, because it's much easier than moving an entire school. This project offers immediate results and an impact that will serve for years. We are looking forward to help with a project that helps providing for the most basic of needs." Travel2change |

The travelers will also educate the children and local community on the importance of purification and safe drinking water.
